On Thursday, Dec. 4, Chabad at Albuquerque sponsored a memorial service for the victims of the Thanksgiving terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India. The event was very well attended, Chabad was packed, and there was no parking within three blocks. Several speakers, including Sam Sokolove of the Jewish Federation and City Councilman Rey Garduno, gave interesting and moving talks and there was a video about the people murdered at the Chabad house in Mumbai and the events of the attack. Rabbi Schmuckler of the Albuquerque Chabad was the keynote speaker. He said that good is stronger than evil, and the way to defeat this evil is by an all out attack of mitzvot.

Paul McCartney sings “Hey Jude” to 40,000 people in Tel Aviv on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008

Paul McCartney’s appearance in Israel despite terror threats is hailed by Tunisian Ftouh Souhail as a triumph of music over terrorism.

The concert given by McCartney in Israel is certain to be inscribed in history. In the weeks since his announcement of his arrival in Israel, McCartney was threatened with being the target of a suicide attack, in order to force him to abandon the project.

Omar Bakri, an Islamist preacher exiled to Lebanon, confirmed that McCartney’s decision to take part in festivities honoring Israel’s sixtieth anniversary turned him into an enemy of all Muslims. According to some sources, the singer was shocked, but refused to back down See Daily Express

McCartney did well to refuse to be influenced by these threats. McCartney is a fortuitously gifted artist, but he is also extremely courageous.

A man of courage and principles who stands firm …. That is so rare in the West! Paul McCartney reassured his fans in …

Peace

Why can’t we all just get along? Why not peace instead of war? For Israel these two songs give the main reason. Here is a popular Israeli song, with a common theme. Other songs are about life and love, like most other people’s songs. You won’t find Israeli songs about murder and suicide and the joy of killing Arabs. Listen to the Palestinian song. It’s very typical, you can find many samples like this among popular Arab songs, and many are more violent than this one.

Do you want peace? First, define peace. There are many kinds of peace…the peace of the grave, the peace of complete victory, the peace of having nothing left to lose, the peace of living together in unity. Unless both sides in a conflict want the same kind of peace, peace will only come with victory. For that to change, the Palestinians will have to change their goal. Listen and consider.
